WSMBC
The Westminster Small & Minority Business Council (WSMBC) aims to promote small business growth within the Westminster area, encouraging large businesses to provide training and support. It's free to join and there's a recuitment drive on at the moment - a prize of a bottle of "bubbly" for any referrals. Depending on whether it's a bubbly drink or a bubbly bath, I'll share it with you if you join.
New Training Module - Roles
A new training module for "Roles in a Project" has been added to Gray Fulton's training programme, explaining the need for a good definition of roles at the outset, so that all stakeholders understand their responsibilities - and each other's! Gone are the days of generic Role Definitions, copied from one set of project documentation to another - each new project should have a refresh of the roles, escalation routes and responsibilities. This new module is directed at everyone involved in the project, from sponsor to end user, supplier to internal provider. Contact us for more information training@grayfulton.com
Top Reasons for Project Failure
Not wanting to start on a negative note, but the top reasons for projects failing are:
- Business case not clear
- Objectives not fully defined
- Poor communication at the start and throughout
- Roles are not well defined... or fully understood!
- Estimations of time and effort are poor
- Planning and scheduling is not properly carried out
- Minimal control or measurement in place
